Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Yang Yundong Meets with the Head of Cyprus Shipping Chamber
On 21 October, 2026, H.E. Yang Yundong, Ambassador of China to Cyprus, met with Andreas Neopytou, President of Cyprus Shipping Chamber and Alexandros Josephides, Director General of Cyprus Shipping Chamber.
Ambassador Yang praised the Cypriot shipping industry for its strong performance despite facing complex challenges. It was noted that the industries of China and Cyprus are highly complementary, with expectation that China would like to further deepen cooperation with the Cypriot side in areas such as green shipping and maritime services.
Neophytou and Josephides expressed admiration for the achievements of China’s shipbuilding industry, spoke highly of the significant role China plays within the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its contributions to the global shipping sector, and indicated a desire to strengthen cooperation with China to seek practical solutions for the decarbonization and green transition of Cyprus’s shipping industry.
