TPO Seeks Public Comment on Amendment to Transportation Program

The Gainesville-Alachua County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is inviting public comment on a proposed amendment to its transportation planning work program.

The TPO has opened a 21-day public comment period for Amendment No. 1 to its Fiscal Year 2026-2028 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). The draft amendment's task worktables and summary tables are available online.

The TPO is scheduled to consider the amendment at its regular meeting on Nov. 9, 2026. Residents can submit comments in advance by emailing awhitfield@gactpo.org.

The amendment is needed for the TPO to receive previously allocated transportation planning funds that were de-obligated, meaning they were released from an earlier funding contract and are now available for reallocation. The proposed amendment would incorporate these funds into the program's first fiscal year.

Residents can visit the TPO’s website for updates on its activities, opportunities for public involvement, and information about transportation planning efforts.

For more information, contact TPO Executive Director Anoch Whitfield at 352-337-6207 or awhitfield@gactpo.org.
