597th Transportation Brigade, JBLE SHARP Team Conquer Royal Danish Air Force March
The 20-kilometer foreign military road march, rooted in Danish military tradition dating back to the 1970s, required participants to navigate the course carrying a mandatory 22-pound weighted rucksack.
The event tested physical endurance, fostered unit cohesion, and highlighted the close partnership between operational transportation units and installation support agencies.
Among the brigade's Rapid Support and installation participants who met the strict time and weight standards to earn the authorized foreign military decoration were:
Capt. Whitney Hodge, operations officer (S3)
Sgt. 1st Class Derek Oxendine, SHARP team
Staff Sgt. Jerica Link, sexual assault response coordinator
Sgt. Andrea Altamirano, Transportation specialist (S3)

The march served as an opportunity for Soldiers to earn the coveted Royal Danish Air Force (Flyver) March medal and ribbon, an authorized foreign military decoration.
Participants who met the time and weight requirements will receive official Danish certificates of completion, authorizing them to submit for official foreign award wear approval under Army Regulation 600-8-22 and Army Regulation 670-1.
