ASP INVESTIGATES FRANKLIN COUNTY HOMICIDE; SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

OZARK, Ark.  — Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are investigating the death of a Franklin County man following an incident in the Jethro community north of Ozark.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) responded to a 911 call reporting a death at a residence on Lower Jethro Road. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the deceased body of Terrance Kiggins, 79, of Ozark, inside the home.

Deputies also located the victim’s son, J.M. Kiggins, 37, at the residence.

Following a request from the FCSO, ASP CID Special Agents assumed the lead in the investigation. Agents arrested J.M. Kiggins and transported him to the Franklin County Detention Center, where he remains held on a charge of First-Degree Homicide.

The deceased has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death.

The ASP CID is leading the active investigation in cooperation with the FCSO. No further details surrounding the incident are being released at this time.
