Notice of Public Review and Comment Period FFY 2026-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 4
Published on: May 20, 2026

For Immediate Release (May 20, 2026) – During a meeting held on May 18, 2026, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) released the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2026-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 4 for a 21-day public review and comment period. A copy of the document may be downloaded at www.capecodcommission.org/mpo.
Amendment 4 includes funding for pedestrian safety improvements at the signalized intersection of Route 28A and Route 151 in Falmouth. This location is part of the MassDOT Vulnerable Roadway User (VRU) Missing Crosswalk at State Signals project. The project responds to MassDOT’s VRU Assessment, which found that 40% of fatal and serious pedestrian and bicyclist crashes occur within 300 feet of a bus stop. To address this issue, MassDOT is using federal and state transportation safety funds to improve crossings at high-risk bus stop locations across the state. Additional locations across the region are being evaluated for future funding rounds of this multi-year initiative.
A virtual public meeting of the Cape Cod MPO is scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM to hear public comments and vote on potential endorsement of Amendment 4. More information on this meeting can be found at www.capecodcommission.org/mpo or by calling 508-362-3828.
The FFY 2026-2030 Transportation Improvement Program serves as a prioritized listing of roadway, bridge, and transit projects proposed for implementation during the next five (5) federal fiscal years.
