Two freight trains depart from China to Turkey
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu described the launch as a milestone in East–West trade, stating: “These trains are the physical manifestations of Türkiye’s vision for logistics on the Middle Corridor.”
Each train is carrying 2,000 metric tons of cargo. Having already covered around 3,500 kilometers within China, the trains have crossed into Kazakhstan and are continuing through Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, before entering Türkiye and heading toward their final European destinations.
The new service was made possible through an agreement signed between Turkish logistics company Pasifik Eurasia and China’s State Railway during the Global Transport Corridors Forum held in Istanbul from June 27 to 29.
Minister Uraloglu emphasized that the development highlights Türkiye’s growing role as a logistics hub linking Asia and Europe. Over the past 23 years, the country has invested nearly $300 billion in transportation and communication infrastructure. Its railway network has expanded by 3,000 kilometers to a total of 13,919 kilometers, including 2,251 kilometers of high-speed rail.
“Our national railway network will ensure these trains reach Europe uninterruptedly,” Uraloglu said.
